Mexico at the 2026 Montreal World Championships
The 2026 UCI Road World Championships are already underway in Montreal, Canada.
Mexico is represented by a delegation of 27 cyclists who will compete in the Elite, Under-23, and Junior categories, as well as the Mixed Team Relay.
Mexico’s participation began with great excitement in the time trial events. Isaac del Toro once again demonstrated that he can compete against the best specialists in the world by finishing in sixth place in the Elite Individual Time Trial, completing the 39.2 kilometers in 46:31.96, 1:38.83 behind champion
How are we doing?
In the women’s category, Romina Hinojosa and Sara Roel also represented Mexico in the Elite Individual Time Trial. Hinojosa finished in 28th place, with a time of 56:06.46, while Roel finished in 33rd place, with a time of 57:53.48. Romina was also the highest-placed Latin American cyclist in the event.
But the World Championships are just getting started for the Mexican delegation.
This Monday, September 21, the action continues with the Women’s and Men’s Under-23 Individual Time Trials. On Tuesday, September 22, Mexico will face a particularly intense day of competition, beginning with the Mixed Team Relay, followed by the Men’s and Women’s Junior Individual Time Trials.
In the Mixed Team Relay
Mexico will be represented by Romina Hinojosa, Andrea Fregoso, Yareli Salazar, Edgar Cadena, Sebastián Ruiz, and Tomás Aguirre, with Ulises Castillo and Mayte Zamudio listed as reserves.
Mexico will also have a strong presence in the Junior categories. The women’s team includes Nabyenka Bareño, Natalia Pineda Soto, and Gaetana Alhach Sjogren, while the men’s team features José Emilio Rodríguez Delgado, Daniel Santiago Moreno García, and Omar Andrade Fernández.

The final day of competition will once again put the spotlight on Isaac del Toro, who will return to action in the 273.7-kilometer Men’s Elite Road Race, after finishing seventh in this event at the 2025 World Championships.
