Del Toro steps up as leader at the Deutschland Tour

Isaac Del Toro once again demonstrated why he is one of the big names in world cycling. The Mexican rider from UAE Team Emirates-XRG won the prologue of the 2026 Lidl Deutschland Tour this Wednesday—a 2.6-kilometer individual time trial held in Bad Orb.

Del Toro completed the course with the fastest time, beating Belgians Paul Magnier and Laurenz Rex to secure a victory that allows him to start the German tour as the overall leader.

The triumph holds special significance for the Mexican rider, as it marks his first time-trial victory on European soil. On a short and technically demanding course, Del Toro opted to maintain his speed and take the necessary risks to make the difference.

“I had to take risks, and I did,” Del Toro explained after the race, highlighting the technical difficulty of the course.

The victory comes just weeks after the Mexican rider made history at the 2026 Tour de France, where he finished third in the general classification and became the first Mexican to stand on the *Grande Boucle* podium.

Now, Del Toro begins defending his lead at the Deutschland Tour—taking place from August 19 to 23—with four road stages ahead. The first stage is this Thursday, covering 215.3 kilometers between Bad Orb and Schwäbisch Hall; it will be a day that once again puts the Mexican leader to the test.

With this triumph, Isaac Del Toro celebrates another victory on European soil, confirming that his extraordinary 2026 season still has plenty more to offer.
